WILLY KYAKONYE

Willy is a professional heavyweight boxer born in Uganda.

Willy started boxing at a young age and ultimately finished third at the African

Championships in 2015, under the inspiring guidance of his coach, Zebra Ssenyange.

He was also one of the few Ugandan boxers to compete in the World Series of Boxing

(WSB).

After the Olympic qualifying rounds in 2016, he decided to change course and become a

professional boxer, based in the Netherlands.

After a period of adjustment, he has now found his way with a clear goal in mind: to become

world champion under one or more boxing federations. This is all under the guidance of his

respected coach, Vincent Stikkolorum of the Nicolaas Sports Centre in Rijswijk.

This goal has now been achieved, but it is not over yet. On the 20th of October 2025, during

the Ben Bril Memorial boxing gala at Carré in Amsterdam, Willy successfully defended the

WBF heavyweight title, defeating challenger Renke Wittke of Germany by first-round

knockout.

Besides being a boxer, Willy is also a certified boxing coach with the Dutch Boxing

Federation (NBB) (see training), and he trains aspiring amateur boxers at local boxing clubs,

such as B.A.V. Frisia in Leeuwarden. Here he also provides supportive boxing training to

people living with Parkinson's disease.

He is a sought-after sparring partner for Glory kickboxers, including Levi Rigters. And

certainly not unimportant, he is committed to charities such as Fighting with your heart, an

event that aims to combat heart defects in children.
