WILLY KYAKONYE

Willy is a professional heavyweight boxer born in Uganda. Willy started boxing at an early age and eventually finished third at the African Championships in 2015, under the inspiring guidance of his coach Zebra Ssenyange.​ He was also one of the few Ugandan boxers to box in the World Series of Boxing (WSB).

After the Olympic qualification rounds in 2016, he decided to change course and decided to

become a professional boxer with the Netherlands as his home base.

​

After a period of adjustment, he has now found his way with a clear goal in mind and that is

to become world champion under one or more boxing federations. All this under the guidance of his respected coach Vincent Stikkolorum of Sportcentrum

This goal has now been achieved, but not over yet. On May 17, 2025, during the boxing gala

in Leeuwarden, organized by B.A.V. Frisia, Willy won the WBF heavyweight title, after a

victory over Wilmer Vasquez from Venezuela in the first round by KO.

His current match record is 11 W - 0 L - 0 D. Of which 10 within the distance.

Besides being a boxer, Willy is also a boxing coach certified by the Dutch Boxing Association

(NBB), (see training) and he trains aspiring amateur boxers at local boxing clubs, such as

B.A.V. Frisia in Leeuwarden.

He is a popular sparring partner for kick boxers at Glory, including Levi Rigters.​ And certainly not least, he is committed to charities such as Knokken met je hart, an event

dedicated to the fight against heart defects in children.
